The following showcases our design process in crafting the Acknowledgment of Country sign for North Harrisdale Primary School. We have collaborated closely with Principal Jacqui O’Donnell to cultivate the school’s brand, thus it was imperative for us to honour and acknowledge the Wadjuk Noongar people while aligning with the school’s branding.

The artwork on the ‘Welcome’ side of the sign was expertly crafted by Rosie Paine, a renowned Yilka/Wongutha/Noongar/Yamatji artist. Meanwhile, the artwork on the ‘Kaya’ side reflects the school’s branding. The words ‘Welcome’ and ‘Kaya’ are seamlessly crafted from one single piece of material, symbolising the perpetual connection between old culture and new learning. ‘Kaya’ is depicted in earthy tones, paying homage to the ancient and historical culture of the Wadjuk Noongar people. On the other hand, ‘Welcome’ is adorned in silver to symbolise the essence of new learning.
